Secretary of State Marco Rubio is set to visit Kuala Lumpur from July 8 to July 12. The purpose of the trip is to attend several key meetings, including the ASEAN-United States Post-Ministerial Conference, the East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, and the ASEAN Regional Forum Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. During his visit, Secretary Rubio will also engage with senior Malaysian government officials.
This marks Secretary Rubio's first official trip to Asia in his current role. His focus will be on reinforcing the United States' dedication to fostering a free, open, and secure Indo-Pacific region.
The Secretary aims to emphasize the robust nature of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the United States and ASEAN. He intends to showcase how this partnership benefits both American citizens and those in Southeast Asia. Additionally, he plans to reaffirm the commitment to enhancing the Comprehensive Partnership with Malaysia.
