The United States government has announced its intention to revoke the Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) designation of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), also known as al-Nusrah Front. This decision is set to take effect on July 8, in accordance with President Trump's commitment made on May 13 to provide sanctions relief to Syria.

The move comes after HTS announced its dissolution and the Syrian government's pledge to combat terrorism in all forms. It aligns with the June 30 Executive Order titled 'Providing for the Revocation of Syria Sanctions' and acknowledges positive actions by the new Syrian administration under President Ahmed al-Sharaa.

"This FTO revocation is an important step in fulfilling President Trump’s vision of a stable, unified, and peaceful Syria," stated the announcement.

The decision reflects ongoing efforts by the U.S. to support stability in Syria through diplomatic measures.
