U.S. Border Patrol agents have apprehended a Venezuelan national wanted by Interpol for homicide charges in Venezuela. The arrest took place after law enforcement in Lincoln Park, Michigan, stopped the individual for driving without a license.
The man, identified as Franh Enrique Yonkaiker Machado-Rivas, 27, was found to be wanted by the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) in connection with a homicide investigation. Machado-Rivas admitted to being in the United States illegally.
Interpol is an international law enforcement organization that aids in global security and public safety through investigative support and training.
Chief Patrol Agent John R. Morris stated, "This arrest highlights the Border Patrol’s unwavering commitment to protecting our communities and upholding the rule of law." He emphasized the importance of collaboration with local and federal law enforcement agencies in identifying and removing dangerous individuals like Machado-Rivas before they pose a threat to public safety.
Machado-Rivas is currently undergoing processing for removal from the United States.
