With the summer travel season underway, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has observed an increase in international travelers entering through the southern border. To ensure smoother crossings, the Laredo Port of Entry recommends travelers apply for tourist permits online and consult CBP's Border Wait Times page to minimize delays.
“Planning ahead can help reduce delays and make their visit more efficient,” stated Port Director Alberto Flores from the Laredo Port of Entry. CBP has temporarily opened a satellite I-94 processing facility at the Outlet Shoppes to assist travelers.
The Laredo Port of Entry is implementing measures to facilitate traffic flow, including electronic tourist permits and a satellite I-94 processing facility located at the Outlet Shoppes of Laredo. This facility operates through August 23, with specific hours from Monday to Sunday.
U.S. citizens should carry a Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative-compliant document when reentering the United States. Non-citizens attempting illegal entry or lacking appropriate documentation may face expulsion or removal.
CBP advises all travelers to have WHTI-compliant documents ready for inspection and declare agricultural items, liquor, and currency over $10,000. Facial biometrics and the CBP Link mobile application are available to streamline processes.
Travelers can monitor Border Wait Times via smartphone apps on Apple App Store and Google Play to decide on bridge usage based on hourly updates. Additionally, declaring all agricultural items is encouraged to avoid fines or delays.
