Mexican national pleads guilty to illegal re-entry in New Orleans

Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced that Marco Gomez-Arguello, a 36-year-old Mexican national, pled guilty to illegal re-entry of a removed alien on July 3, 2025. This violation is under Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a) and Section 1326(b)(1).

The indictment revealed that Gomez-Arguello re-entered the U.S. after being deported on October 28, 2013. At sentencing, he could face up to two years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, one year of supervised release, and a mandatory $100 special assessment fee.

Simpson commended the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) New Orleans Field Office for their investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Mary Katherine Kaufman from the General Crimes Unit is leading the prosecution.

This case falls under Operation Take Back America. This initiative uses resources from the Department of Justice to combat illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime perpetrators.
