Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced that Tevin Bornes, 31, from Kenner, Louisiana, pleaded guilty to violating the Federal Controlled Substances and Gun Control Acts. The plea was entered on July 2, 2025, before United States District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo.
Court documents reveal that law enforcement searched Bornes' apartment on July 31, 2023, following a complaint. They seized various drugs including marijuana, crystal methamphetamine, cocaine base, methamphetamine, and cocaine hydrochloride. Additionally, four firearms were confiscated: a Glock Model 22 with a machinegun conversion device, a Pioneer Arms Model Sporter rifle, a Glock Model 23 pistol, and a Del-Ton DTI-15 pistol.
Bornes pleaded guilty to four counts of the indictment. Count 1 involved possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine substances under Title 21 of the United States Code. This charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years up to forty years imprisonment.
Count 2 charged Bornes with possessing firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking under Title 18 of the United States Code. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years imprisonment for this count.
Count 3 related to possession of a machinegun under Title 18 of the United States Code and could result in up to ten years imprisonment.
Count 4 charged him as a felon in possession of a firearm under Title 18 provisions. This offense carries up to fifteen years imprisonment.
Each count also includes fines and supervised release terms along with payment of special assessment fees.
