Natureen recalls dried black fungus slice over salmonella concerns

Natureen International Inc. is recalling 244 bags of Wei-Chuan Dried Black Fungus Slice due to potential Salmonella contamination. The product, distributed in several states including Illinois and Indiana, poses a health risk particularly to young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms of Salmonella infection include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

The affected products are packaged in 2.5-ounce clear plastic bags marked with lot number XJ17 and expiration date EXP:20260417. No illnesses have been reported so far.

The California Department of Public Health informed the FDA about the contamination. Production has been halted while an investigation is underway by both the FDA and Natureen International Inc.
