Springfield man sentenced for firearm possession after previous felony conviction

Leah B. Foley United States Attorney for the District of Massachusetts | Department of Justice

A Springfield man, previously convicted of a felony, has been sentenced for unlawfully possessing a firearm. Sean Krasin, 31, received an 80-month prison sentence followed by three years of supervised release in federal court in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Krasin had pleaded guilty in January 2025 to being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. His arrest occurred on June 20, 2022, when he was found with a Glock .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun. He attempted to evade law enforcement by jumping from the second-floor parking garage at the Holyoke Mall and fleeing through nearby woods.

At the time of this offense, Krasin was under supervised release following his conviction for heroin trafficking in 2018. He had served five years in federal prison for that crime.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley; Scott Riordan, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms in New England; Colonel Geoffrey Nobel of the Massachusetts State Police; and Brian Keenan, Chief of the Holyoke Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Todd E. Newhouse prosecuted the case.
