A Philadelphia resident, Mikal Davis, 47, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release for his role in leading a large-scale drug trafficking organization. The sentencing was announced by Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti and imposed by United States District Judge Marilyn J. Horan.
Davis was convicted of conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute significant quantities of heroin, cocaine, crack, fentanyl, and methamphetamine. From April 2019 to July 2021, Davis conspired with others in the Western District of Pennsylvania to distribute these drugs. He led the organization's activities in Philadelphia and Johnstown and was a target of a federal wiretap operation.
Davis frequently traveled between Philadelphia and Johnstown with drug shipments that were stored at "stash houses" for distribution. He also arranged for drug parcels from California to be mailed to Johnstown. In the Philadelphia area, he purchased large quantities of heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine from sources in New Jersey.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Maureen Sheehan-Balchon. Acting U.S. Attorney Rivetti praised the efforts of various law enforcement agencies including the FBI’s Laurel Highlands Resident Agency and Homeland Security Investigations for their roles in this investigation.
This prosecution is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation aimed at dismantling high-level drug traffickers using a multi-agency approach involving federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
