Muskogee, Oklahoma – The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has announced that Johnny Lee Vann, 48, has pleaded guilty to one count of attempted arson in Indian Country. This charge carries a potential sentence of up to life imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.
The indictment accused Vann of maliciously attempting to set fire to a dwelling and endangering lives on January 4, 2025. The incident took place in Muskogee County, within the Muscogee (Creek) Reservation's boundaries in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The charge resulted from an investigation conducted by the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Jason A. Robertson accepted Vann's plea and has ordered a presentence investigation report. A U.S. District Court Judge will determine Vann's sentence after reviewing the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other legal factors.
Vann is currently held by the United States Marshals Service while awaiting sentencing.
