Mexican national pleads guilty to immigration violation in Texas

A Mexican national has admitted guilt to an immigration violation in the Eastern District of Texas, according to Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.

Alejandro Uribe-Chavez, 43, residing illegally in Beaumont, pleaded guilty to illegal reentry by a previously deported person before U.S. Magistrate Judge Zack Hawthorn on July 10, 2025.

Court information revealed that Uribe-Chavez was arrested in Beaumont on unrelated state charges on May 3, 2024. Further investigation showed he had been convicted of illegally entering the United States in the Southern District of Texas and deported to Mexico in 2019.

Uribe-Chavez could face up to two years in federal prison and deportation upon sentencing. The maximum statutory sentence prescribed by Congress is provided for informational purposes; the court will determine sentencing based on advisory guidelines and other factors. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled after a presentence investigation by the U.S. Probation Office. Uribe-Chavez also faces unrelated state charges in Jefferson County.

It involves efforts from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Chris Jackson.
