Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau held a meeting with Haitian Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé to discuss the ongoing efforts to restore security and promote political stability in Haiti.
During the meeting, Deputy Secretary Landau highlighted that Haiti's security crisis is a threat to both regional and national security. Both officials stressed the importance of restoring constitutional order and strengthening Haiti's democratic institutions. The Deputy expressed support for the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission but called for increased burden-sharing.
Landau also reaffirmed the United States' commitment to holding accountable those who undermine Haiti's stability. He stated that the U.S. would continue using all available tools, including sanctions, visa restrictions, and other measures against individuals contributing to violence and instability.
