Dominique Davis, a 26-year-old resident of the District of Columbia, has been sentenced to 37 months in federal prison for possessing a handgun as a previously convicted felon. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.
Davis entered a guilty plea on March 4, 2025, to the charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Alongside his prison sentence, Judge Trevor N. McFadden mandated that Davis serve three years under supervised release.
Court documents reveal that on September 26, 2024, officers from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) detected the smell of burning marijuana while patrolling the 4300 block of 4th Street SE. Upon approaching a group of four men smoking marijuana, one individual identified as Davis attempted to gather his belongings while holding a lit marijuana cigarette. After extinguishing the cigarette at the officers' request and providing identification, it was discovered that Davis had an outstanding warrant for first-degree assault in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
During their search, police found Davis in possession of a Glock 23 .40 caliber handgun loaded with one round in the chamber and an additional 16 rounds in a large-capacity magazine.
The case was investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Benjamin Helfand and Emily Reeder-Ricchetti.
