Today, the House Appropriations National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs Subcommittee convened to discuss its Fiscal Year 2026 bill. The Subcommittee approved the measure.

Subcommittee Chairman Mario Díaz-Balart emphasized that the bill aligns with President Trump's America First agenda by significantly reducing spending. "Funding is cut by 22% from the enacted level," he stated. He highlighted that national security remains a priority, especially in regions such as the Western Hemisphere, Middle East, and Indo-Pacific. Additionally, the bill provides $3.3 billion in security assistance to Israel and includes measures to counter threats from the Chinese Communist Party.

Chairman Tom Cole commented on the importance of this legislation for U.S. foreign policy and fiscal responsibility. "The legislation makes clear that we will not retreat from the cause of freedom," he said. Cole also mentioned efforts to enhance America's global leadership while ensuring safety for Americans domestically and internationally.

Full remarks from both chairmen are available for further review.
