The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) has released a new video celebrating the passage of a significant tax bill that is expected to benefit the manufacturing industry. The bill, described as the "One Big, Beautiful Manufacturing Law," is set to be signed into law by President Donald Trump. According to NAM, this legislation will protect and create jobs, bolster investments, and strengthen communities across the nation.
NAM has expressed gratitude towards the leaders who supported the bill, emphasizing its importance for the 13 million people employed in manufacturing in America. "An energized and gratified industry—powered by the 13 million people who make things in America—congratulate the president, the administration and Congress for making this Independence Day one to remember," said NAM.
Before the final passage of the bill, NAM activated its "Manufacturing Wins" campaign, engaging various stakeholders including shop floor workers and executives. This campaign involved public advocacy efforts such as outreach to congressional offices, social media drives, video testimonials, and local media op-eds. These efforts aimed to highlight how preserving key tax provisions can lead to business growth and job creation.
More than 300 manufacturing leaders signed a letter urging Congress to pass this historic tax legislation. In addition, manufacturers participated in meetings on Capitol Hill with officials like Deputy Treasury Secretary Michael Faulkender to advocate for the bill's passage.
In January, NAM released an EY study on potential economic impacts if pro-manufacturing provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act are not renewed by 2025. The study was highlighted at a Capitol Hill press conference with Senate Finance Committee Chairman Mike Crapo (R-ID), House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO), and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA). The study warns of severe economic consequences such as 5.9 million lost jobs and a $1.1 trillion shortfall in U.S. GDP if these provisions are not preserved.
