The American Farm Bureau Federation has expressed approval following the Senate's passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Zippy Duvall, President of the American Farm Bureau Federation, commented on the legislative development.
"Farm Bureau applauds the U.S. Senate for passing the reconciliation package," Duvall said. He emphasized that farmers and ranchers are crucial to America's food supply chain and highlighted the importance of the legislation in providing them with certainty.
Duvall pointed out that improvements to farm safety net programs and maintaining key tax provisions will have a direct positive impact on farm and ranch families. He noted, "Prices being paid to farmers continue to fall, while expenses remain stubbornly high." This situation has led to a significant reduction in the number of farms over five years, resulting in more consolidation among family farms.
He stressed that increases in reference prices and investments in conservation, research, and trade are essential. These measures are particularly urgent given that it has been seven years since a new farm bill was passed. According to Duvall, these changes will help farmers endure challenging times and prepare for future planting seasons.
Duvall also mentioned that important tax provisions will assist farmers in saving money for bills, investing in technology, and passing family farms to future generations. He concluded by urging the House to pass the bill so it can be signed by the president, ensuring continued support for America's farmers and ranchers.
