Trump stated, "Brazilian Supreme Federal Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes’s political witch hunt against Jair Bolsonaro created a persecution and censorship complex so sweeping that it not only violates basic rights of Brazilians, but also extends beyond Brazil’s shores to target Americans." As a result, he has ordered the revocation of visas for Moraes, his allies on the court, and their immediate family members.
This policy is enacted under Section 212(a)(3)(C) of the Immigration and Nationality Act. This section gives the Secretary of State the authority to deem any alien inadmissible if their entry into the United States could lead to serious adverse foreign policy consequences.
