Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced that Clement Leach, a 54-year-old resident of New Orleans, was sentenced on July 2, 2025, for bank robbery. Leach had previously pleaded guilty to the charge, which is a violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2113(a).

United States District Judge Sarah S. Vance handed down an 80-month prison sentence to Leach. Following his release from prison, he will be subject to three years of supervised release and must pay a mandatory special assessment fee of $100. Additionally, Leach has been ordered to pay $920 in restitution for the robbery of Chase Bank that occurred on March 2, 2020.

Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson commended the efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Violent Crime Task Force and officers from the New Orleans Police Department in this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jon M. Maestri from the General Crimes Unit is overseeing the prosecution.
