California residents plead guilty in interstate stolen property case

Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced that three California residents have pled guilty to charges related to the interstate transportation of stolen property. Lorenzo Taylor, Nemirah Davidson, both aged 39, and Jovan Collins, aged 35, admitted guilt to a two-count indictment involving conspiracy and interstate transportation of stolen goods.

The indictment details how the trio conspired to transport cigarettes stolen during a burglary at a national chain retail distribution center on November 21, 2024. They were apprehended in Fort Stockton, Texas, with the stolen goods. The group has also been linked to similar burglaries in North Carolina and Texas earlier in February 2024.

Taylor faces up to five years imprisonment for Count 1 and up to ten years for Count 2. Davidson faces similar potential sentences for each count. Collins also faces identical sentencing guidelines as his co-defendants. Each defendant may also be fined up to $250,000 per count and is subject to supervised release terms.

Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson commended several law enforcement agencies for their investigative work on this case. These include the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms; Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office; Knightdale Police Department; Atlanta Police Department; Rockmart Police Department; Texas Department of Public Safety; and Fort Stockton Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Paul J. Hubbell is handling the prosecution.
