The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) has announced that it will consider H.R. 3898, known as the Promoting Efficient Review for Modern Infrastructure Today (PERMIT) Act, as a key vote for the 119th Congress. The organization sent a letter to the U.S. House of Representatives supporting the legislation. If passed, this act aims to amend the Clean Water Act's permitting framework, providing small business owners with more certainty in the permitting process.
Adam Temple, NFIB Senior Vice President for Advocacy, stated: “Over the last several decades small business owners have dealt with constant changes to the CWA which has prevented them from being able to plan for the future.” He further emphasized that “the PERMIT Act realigns the CWA to its original intent, which is to preserve water quality while setting clear rules for businesses so that they can plan appropriately.”
The NFIB urges Congress to enact H.R. 3898 swiftly. They believe that this bill will restore certainty and allow small businesses to grow without being hindered by unclear or excessive government regulations. According to NFIB, a vote in favor of H.R. 3898 will be considered an important vote in their assessment of Congressional performance.
For over eight decades, NFIB has been advocating on behalf of America's small and independent business owners across all states and Washington D.C., maintaining a nonprofit and nonpartisan stance.
