Woman indicted for robbing parking enforcement officer in Washington D.C

Maylin Carranza Garcia, a 29-year-old resident of Annandale, Virginia, has been indicted on charges of robbery and retaliating against a government official. The indictment was announced by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro following the incident that occurred on June 25, 2025.

The grand jury issued the indictment on July 16, 2025, with an arraignment set for July 29, 2025. According to evidence presented by the government, the incident took place at approximately 3:07 p.m. on June 25 at L Street Northwest in Washington, D.C. A Parking Enforcement Officer had just issued a ticket when Carranza Garcia allegedly confronted the officer verbally and took her parking enforcement device before fleeing. The device was later found discarded nearby.

Carranza Garcia was arrested the following day, and the stolen device was recovered. Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department joined in announcing the indictment.

The case is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kadian Carter.
