The National Association of REALTORS (NAR) has announced Leslie Nettleford-Freeman as its new Associate General Counsel, Vice President of Legal Affairs and Brand Protection. This newly created position is part of NAR's Legal Team. Nettleford-Freeman is recognized for her expertise in trademark protection and brings over 20 years of experience in intellectual property, brand enforcement, and strategic legal leadership.

"Leslie's deep expertise in intellectual property law and her innovative approach to brand protection make her the ideal leader to champion the REALTOR trademark, reinforcing its unique value for both the professionals who carry it and the consumers who rely on it," said NAR CEO Nykia Wright.

Before joining NAR, she was Associate General Counsel at AARP, leading significant trademark enforcement campaigns. Her work included dismantling a network of over 50 domain names misusing the AARP trademark. She also developed a cross-departmental brand protection team at AARP.

Nettleford-Freeman's role highlights NAR's commitment to maintaining high standards for the REALTOR brand. "Leslie's strategic vision and proven track record will compliment NAR's existing efforts," stated Jon Waclawski, NAR's General Counsel and Senior Vice President, Legal.

In addition to her corporate work, she is an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center. She has received accolades such as the Outstanding In-House Counsel Award from the Association of Corporate Counsel.

"I am honored to join NAR and look forward to contributing to the stewardship of one of the most respected trademarks in business," said Nettleford-Freeman.

Her official start date at NAR is August 4.
