A Houston man has been sentenced to 120 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to a “jugging” robbery targeting an ATM technician, according to Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Nancy E. Larson. The term “jugging” refers to thefts where perpetrators follow victims who are servicing or withdrawing cash from ATMs or banks and then rob them.
Johnny Juwan Clark, 33, along with three others, was charged in December 2024 with conspiracy to commit interference with commerce by robbery related to an incident on July 3, 2024. Clark pleaded guilty in April 2025 to interference with commerce by robbery. At the time of this offense, he was already on supervised release following a previous federal conviction for robbery. U.S. Chief District Judge David Godbey sentenced Clark to 96 months for the current conviction and an additional consecutive sentence of 24 months for violating his supervised release, totaling ten years in prison.
Clark and his codefendants—Tierra Toneisha Brandyberg, Corey Dashun Holloway, and Roosevelt Ford Valentine—are associated with the “Hiram Clarke Money Team,” a Houston-based criminal group known for traveling outside their home city to commit jugging-style robberies and other thefts.
During his plea hearing, Clark admitted that he traveled from Houston to the Dallas area early on July 3, 2024, using a rental car with the intent to commit robbery. He followed an ATM technician through several cities including Irving, Grand Prairie, Arlington, and Midlothian as the technician serviced machines.
At about 5:35 p.m., Clark approached the technician at a Chase Bank in Midlothian while wearing a hoodie and face covering. He forced the technician to the ground while codefendants Holloway and Valentine removed canisters containing approximately $248,000 from the ATM. During court proceedings, Clark acknowledged being the person who restrained the technician during the crime.
Afterward, court documents state that Clark and two codefendants fled in a rental car before meeting Brandyberg at a nearby apartment complex. The stolen money was transferred into a Range Rover and driven back to Houston. Upon returning, some of it was used by Clark and Brandyberg to buy an S-Class Mercedes Benz and jewelry.
Brandyberg pleaded guilty on July 8, 2025 and is awaiting sentencing. Holloway has indicated plans to plead guilty with re-arraignment scheduled for August 2025. Valentine’s jury trial is set for September 2025.
The FBI’s Dallas Division investigated this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Rick Calvert is prosecuting.
