Farrell man pleads guilty to federal drug trafficking and firearm charges

A Farrell, Pennsylvania resident has admitted to federal drug trafficking and firearm offenses. Daniel George, 36, pleaded guilty in federal court to two charges stemming from a July 7, 2022 incident: possession with intent to distribute at least 28 grams of cocaine base as well as quantities of fentanyl and cocaine, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti. The plea was entered before Chief United States District Judge Mark R. Hornak.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, George faces a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and could receive up to life imprisonment. He also faces a possible fine of up to $5,250,000. Sentencing will be determined according to federal guidelines that take into account the severity of the crimes and any prior criminal history.

Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller is prosecuting the case for the government.

The investigation leading to these charges involved multiple agencies: the Mercer County Drug Task Force, Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

This prosecution falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through cooperation between law enforcement agencies and local communities. In May 2021, the Department strengthened PSN by focusing on building trust within communities, supporting organizations working to prevent violence before it occurs, prioritizing strategic enforcement efforts, and measuring outcomes. More information about Project Safe Neighborhoods can be found on the Department's website: https://www.justice.gov/psn.
