Collin County man receives 19-year sentence for drug trafficking and gun offenses

A Princeton resident, Larry Wayne Culverhouse, has been sentenced to 19 years in federal prison for drug trafficking and firearms violations. The announcement was made by Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs for the Eastern District of Texas.

Culverhouse, 39, pleaded guilty to three charges: possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime; felon in possession of a firearm; and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. U.S. District Judge Amos L. Mazzant, III handed down the 228-month sentence on July 30, 2025.

Court records show that on August 30, 2023, Culverhouse was found with over 500 grams of methamphetamine and a firearm. Authorities later determined that he was a convicted felon who was not allowed to possess firearms.

The case falls under Operation Take Back America, which is an initiative led by the Department of Justice aimed at fighting illegal immigration, dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and addressing violent crime. The operation coordinates resources from the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case. It was prosecuted by Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.
