A Honduran national, Darwin Xavier Gonzalez-Munoz, was sentenced to 24 months in prison for illegal re-entry into the United States after deportation. The sentencing took place on July 23, 2025, before United States District Judge Lance M. Africk in New Orleans.
Gonzalez-Munoz, age 30, had previously pleaded guilty to violating Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a), which prohibits re-entry of a removed alien. Court records show that he returned to the U.S. after being deported around June 24, 2024.
The prosecution of this case falls under Operation Take Back America. This initiative is designed to use all available resources from the Department of Justice to address illegal immigration and target criminal organizations that operate across borders.
