Secretary Rubio meets Egyptian foreign minister to discuss Middle East peace and Sudan

Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on July 30, 2025. According to spokesperson Tammy Bruce, the two officials discussed their mutual interest in advancing peace and security in the Middle East.

The talks also addressed developments in Sudan, with both leaders emphasizing the importance of moving toward civilian governance in that country. “Secretary Rubio and Foreign Minister Abdelatty also discussed the necessity of a transition to civilian governance in Sudan,” Bruce stated.

The meeting highlights ongoing diplomatic engagement between the United States and Egypt on regional security issues and conflict resolution.
