A New Haven man has been sentenced to 78 months in federal prison for his involvement in a fentanyl trafficking conspiracy. Jesus Seguinot, also known as “Chuchi,” 35, received the sentence from U.S. District Judge Stefan R. Underhill in Bridgeport.
According to court records and statements, Seguinot was previously sentenced on June 25, 2020, in New Haven federal court to 30 months of imprisonment and three years of supervised release for drug distribution and gun possession offenses. He was released from federal prison in May 2021.
Authorities reported that by October 2021, the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force had identified Luis Salaman, also known as “Bebe,” as distributing large quantities of narcotics throughout New Haven. The investigation revealed that Salaman worked with Seguinot and others to distribute fentanyl. From November 2021 through March 2022, investigators made several controlled purchases of fentanyl from Salaman, Seguinot, and their associates. Investigators also learned that Seguinot possessed a firearm during this period.
Seguinot was arrested on April 10, 2023. On December 19, 2024, a jury found both Seguinot and Salaman guilty of conspiracy to distribute at least 40 grams of fentanyl. Salaman was additionally convicted on three counts related to possession with intent to distribute and distribution of similar amounts.
Seguinot’s criminal history includes prior state convictions for drug distribution and weapon possession offenses. He has been detained since January 2, 2025.
Salaman remains detained since his arrest on April 5, 2022; he is awaiting sentencing.
The investigation involved the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force with members from several agencies including the Connecticut State Police; Connecticut Department of Correction; police departments from New Haven, Milford, East Haven, West Haven, and Wallingford. Assistant U.S. Attorney David T. Huang is prosecuting the case.
