President Donald J. Trump has signed an Executive Order to restore the Presidential Fitness Test and revitalize the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition. The move aims to address childhood chronic disease and promote physical fitness among young Americans.

The signing event in Washington, D.C., included Vice President JD Vance, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and several well-known athletes such as Bryson DeChambeau, Annika Sörenstam, Lawrence Taylor, Harrison Butker, and Triple H.

The Executive Order brings back the Presidential Fitness Test, which will be overseen by Secretary Kennedy. The test is intended to set a national standard for youth fitness.

“We are building a nation of strong, proud, and unstoppable young Americans. The Presidential Fitness Test is not just about physical strength—it’s about character, competition, and confidence,” President Trump said. “Together, we are making fitness fun, competitive, and cool again.”

The updated President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition plans to implement school-based programs that reward excellence in physical education and support the development of a Presidential Fitness Award. The Council will work with athletes, coaches, sports teams, and schools across the country to increase access to fitness opportunities.

President Trump also stated that the Council would help restore tradition in college sports by reforming the transfer portal system and addressing participation rules regarding men in women’s sports.

The administration highlighted upcoming major sporting events hosted by the United States over the next three years: the Ryder Cup, President’s Cup, FIFA World Cup, and Olympic Games. In 2026, America will mark its 250th anniversary as well as 70 years since the original President’s Council on Youth Fitness was established.

“This is a movement about discipline, strength, and excellence,” said President Trump. “The more we empower our kids to push harder, reach higher, and strive together, the more we secure America’s greatness for generations to come.”
