Walker County man receives nine-year sentence for methamphetamine distribution

A Walker County resident has been sentenced to nine years in federal prison for a drug offense, according to an announcement from U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona.

U.S. District Court Judge Anna M. Manasco sentenced Shannon Wayne Herron, 50, of Jasper, Alabama, to 108 months in prison following his guilty plea to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

According to the plea agreement, on November 1, 2023, detectives from the Jasper Police Department Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Jasper. During the search, officers found 366 grams of pure methamphetamine, marijuana, a digital scale, a ledger listing names with corresponding dollar amounts, four cell phones, and about $1,800 in cash.

The Drug Enforcement Administration worked on the investigation alongside the Jasper Police Department Narcotics Unit. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kristy Peoples prosecuted the case.
