Terrell Bell, a 28-year-old resident of Schenectady, New York, was sentenced to 63 months in federal prison for possessing and intending to distribute fentanyl. The sentencing took place in Albany and was announced by Acting United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III and Craig L. Tremaroli, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Albany Field Office.
Bell admitted that he was on parole when law enforcement searched his residence in January 2024. During the search, officers found nearly 1,800 fentanyl pills in his bedroom and seized more than $90,000 from various locations throughout the home.
Acting United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III said, “Bell didn’t learn his lesson after a prior felony conviction and term of parole, but he should learn it now: Dealing drugs in this District doesn’t pay. My Office will make sure of it.”
FBI Special Agent in Charge Craig A. Tremaroli stated: “This sentence proves any criminal who chooses to profit from poisoning our communities will be held accountable. The FBI remains deeply committed to working with our partners at every level of law enforcement to investigate and bring to justice these individuals trafficking dangerous drugs on our streets.”
Senior United States District Judge Frederick J. Scullin, Jr. imposed a four-year term of supervised release following Bell’s prison sentence. Bell also agreed to forfeit the cash recovered during the search.
The investigation was led by the FBI with assistance from the Schenectady Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mikayla Espinosa prosecuted the case.
