The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Tennessee will participate in National Night Out events in Nashville on August 5, 2025, alongside law enforcement partners and local communities.
Acting United States Attorney Robert E. McGuire stated, “Our office is proud to stand with both our neighbors and law enforcement as we all work together for a safer community. I look forward to seeing both our law enforcement partners and the citizens we serve tomorrow night.”
National Night Out is an annual campaign that aims to build relationships between law enforcement and communities across the country. The event takes place on the first Tuesday of August in most areas and involves millions of participants nationwide.
The program was established in 1984 with support from the Bureau of Justice Assistance within the U.S. Department of Justice. It is managed by the National Association of Town Watch, a nonprofit organization that works to promote safer neighborhoods.
Local police departments coordinate National Night Out activities with volunteers, offering opportunities for residents and officers to interact positively. Events often include block parties, cookouts, festivals, parades, safety demonstrations, youth activities, and visits from emergency personnel. The initiative emphasizes unity among neighbors to help maintain safe communities.
