Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced on August 4, 2025, that the President has nominated six Air Force brigadier generals for promotion to the rank of major general.
The nominees and their current assignments are as follows:
Air Force Brig. Gen. Christopher M. Blomquist is nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. He is currently serving as chief of staff, Minnesota Air National Guard, in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Air Force Brig. Gen. Gary R. Charlton II is nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Charlton is currently serving as assistant adjutant general, New York Air National Guard, Latham, New York.
Air Force Brig. Gen. James D. Cleet is nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Cleet is currently serving as deputy director of Operations for Information Operations, Cyber Operations, Integrated Air and Missile Defense, and Nuclear Command, Control and Communications at U.S. European Command in Stuttgart-Vaihingen, Germany.
Air Force Brig. Gen. Christopher A. Jarratt is nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Jarratt is currently serving as acting director, Programs and Requirements at the National Guard Bureau in the Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
Air Force Brig. Gen. Jason W. Knight is nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Knight currently serves as deputy director, Space Operations at the National Guard Bureau's Air National Guard Readiness Center at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
Air Force Brig. Gen. Gregory A. Krane is nominated for appointment to the grade of major general and serves as deputy director for Homeland Defense and Hemispheric Affairs (J-5) on the Joint Staff at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
