Secretary Rubio discusses Gaza, Ukraine, Iran, and Sudan with UK counterpart

Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a call with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy to discuss several international issues. According to Spokesperson Tammy Bruce, the two officials talked about the humanitarian situation in Gaza and ongoing efforts to achieve a ceasefire, noting challenges posed by Hamas and emphasizing the need to bring hostages home.

The conversation also addressed the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Both leaders agreed on the importance of ending the war. In addition, they reaffirmed their shared commitment to preventing Iran from developing or acquiring nuclear weapons.

The discussion included an update on the continuing conflict in Sudan.

"Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke today with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy.  The Secretary and Foreign Secretary Lammy discussed the humanitarian situation in Gaza and efforts to reach a ceasefire – despite Hamas’s obstructionism – and bring the hostages home.  On the Russia-Ukraine war, both the Secretary and Foreign Secretary agreed the war must be brought to an end.  Both the Secretary and Foreign Secretary reiterated their commitment to ensuring that Iran never develops or acquires a nuclear weapon. They also discussed the ongoing conflict in Sudan," said Spokesperson Tammy Bruce.
