Postal employee from Houma sentenced to probation for destruction of mail

A former postal worker from Houma, Louisiana, was sentenced to one year of probation after pleading guilty to destruction of mail. The sentencing took place on July 31, 2025, according to Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson.

Jorry Harrison, age 38, admitted to unlawfully opening packages intended for delivery while working with a Small Parcel and Bundle Sorter at the Postal Service. The incident occurred on or about October 25, 2023.

The investigation was conducted by the United States Postal Service Office of the Inspector General. Assistant United States Attorneys Christine Calogero and Duane A. Evans from the General Crimes Unit prosecuted the case.
