House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) has issued subpoenas to several former high-ranking government officials, including Bill and Hillary Clinton, as part of an investigation into crimes connected to Jeffrey Epstein. The subpoenas also target former U.S. Attorneys General and FBI Directors, such as James Comey, Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder, Merrick Garland, Robert Mueller, William Barr, Jeff Sessions, and Alberto Gonzales. In addition to these individuals, the U.S. Department of Justice has been subpoenaed for records related to the Epstein case.
The decision follows actions taken by the Federal Law Enforcement Subcommittee on July 23, 2025. During this session, both Republican and Democratic members approved a motion from Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.) instructing the Chairman to issue subpoenas for testimony from the listed individuals.
An amended motion by Rep. Summer Lee (D-Pa.), passed by a vote of 8-2, directed the Chairman to subpoena the Department of Justice for Epstein-related records. Further amendments were adopted by voice vote: Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) added that all communications between President Biden or his administration and the Department of Justice about Jeffrey Epstein should be included; Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) required redaction of victims’ names and any personally identifiable information or potential Child Sexual Abuse Material.
Chairman Comer stated: “These subpoenas are a necessary step in our investigation into horrific crimes perpetrated by Jeffrey Epstein.”
Deposition and record return dates have been set throughout August, September, and October 2025 for each individual named in the subpoenas.
