Rockwell man receives over two decades in prison for producing child pornography

Timothy T. Duax U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Iowa

A Rockwell, Iowa man has been sentenced to 21 years in federal prison for producing and distributing child pornography. David Bradley Garrison, 44, pleaded guilty on March 6, 2025, to charges of sexual exploitation of a child and distribution of child pornography.

According to evidence presented at sentencing, Garrison recorded a video in July 2021 showing a child engaged in sexually explicit conduct. He distributed child pornography to several individuals in May and August 2021. Authorities found thousands of images and videos of child pornography in his possession, including material depicting infants and acts involving sexual torture or bondage. Despite a search of his residence by law enforcement in January 2022, Garrison continued to possess illegal material.

United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand sentenced Garrison in Sioux City to 252 months’ imprisonment and ordered him to pay $16,000 in restitution to victims. After completing his prison term, Garrison will serve five years of supervised release. Federal sentences do not allow for parole.

"This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
