Monroe County man receives 15-year sentence for drug trafficking charges

Pernell Riddick, 36, of Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 180 months in prison for drug trafficking offenses. The sentencing was announced by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and handed down by United States District Judge Julia K. Munley.

According to Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus, Riddick was found in possession of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine with intent to distribute on September 2, 2022, in Monroe County. In addition to the drugs, Riddick had a 9-millimeter Smith & Wesson handgun and a 9-millimeter Taurus G2C handgun as part of his drug trafficking activities.

"This case is part of Operation Take Back America (https://www.justice.gov/dag/media/1393746/dl?inline), a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime. Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN)."

The investigation involved both the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Tatum R. Wilson prosecuted the case.
