U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced on August 5, 2025, the arrest of several individuals described as "worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens." The agency stated that those arrested had been convicted of crimes such as child exploitation, domestic violence, heroin trafficking, alien smuggling, and weapons offenses.

“Every one of these men left a victim behind – scarred, addicted, terrified and worse,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “The Biden administration turned a blind eye. Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, we’re taking these lowlifes off the streets. DHS will continue to swiftly arrest, detain, and remove the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens— Americans deserve to feel safe in their own country.”

The list of recent arrests includes Cristian Brayan Aleman-Leiva from El Salvador, convicted in Virginia for firearm possession and petit larceny; Jose Javier Romero-Hernandez from Mexico, convicted in Oklahoma for burglary and multiple domestic violence-related charges; Juan Ignacio Amaya-Hernandez from Mexico, convicted in Texas for indecency with a child; Elin Edicson Ochoa-Hernandez from Honduras, convicted in Texas for alien smuggling; and Manuel De Jesus Lopez-Marroquin from Guatemala, convicted in New Jersey for heroin distribution and other drug offenses.

ICE continues its recruitment efforts by encouraging people to apply to join the agency at join.ice.gov.
