Nathaniel Robinson, 36, of Washington, D.C., received a sentence in Superior Court today for burglarizing a woman’s apartment during the night of March 6. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.
Robinson pleaded guilty on June 4, 2025, to one count of first-degree burglary. Superior Court Judge Jennifer Di Toro sentenced him to 70 months in prison. After serving his prison term, Robinson will be subject to five years of supervised release, with all but three years suspended.
Court documents state that Robinson entered the victim’s apartment while she was asleep. The victim did not wake up during the incident and only discovered her belongings were missing after getting ready for work the next morning. Items reported stolen included her bag, cell phone, credit cards, and a key fob for a wine cellar inside the building. She contacted police using her work phone.
Surveillance footage from the building showed Robinson attempting to break into the lobby entrance without success. He later told detectives he gained entry by jumping over the victim’s gate and entering through her patio door adjacent to the lobby entrance. According to footage, thirteen minutes passed between his attempt at the lobby entrance and when he left through the lobby carrying a red bag identified as belonging to the victim. Robinson was arrested on March 7, 2025, and has remained in custody since then.
Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department joined U.S. Attorney Pirro in announcing the sentence.
“In announcing the sentence,” said U.S. Attorney Pirro and Chief Smith, “we commend the work of those who investigated the case from the Metropolitan Police Department.” They also acknowledged Assistant U.S. Attorney Hannah Skopicki for prosecuting the case.
