Muskogee man pleads guilty to firearm possession as convicted felon

A Muskogee resident has pleaded guilty to illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

Justin Janae Stancle, 34, entered a guilty plea to one count of felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. The charge carries a maximum sentence of fifteen years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

According to the indictment, Stancle knowingly possessed an automatic pistol and fourteen rounds of ammunition on February 21, 2025. He had previously been convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year imprisonment.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson accepted the plea and ordered that a presentence investigation report be completed.

A U.S. District Court Judge will determine Stancle's sentence after considering federal sentencing guidelines and other statutory factors. Stancle will remain out on bond while awaiting sentencing.
