U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has temporarily closed the Amistad Dam International crossing in Del Rio, Texas due to maintenance issues. The closure took effect on August 6, 2025, and will continue indefinitely. The crossing is located on Texas Spur 349.

CBP stated that normal operations at the Amistad Dam crossing have ceased for the time being but clarified that hours and cargo operations at the main Del Rio Port of Entry are not affected by this closure.

In a message to travelers, CBP emphasized the importance of having radio frequency identification documents such as U.S. passport cards or newer versions of border crossing cards and resident alien cards when using Ready Lanes. The agency advised travelers to prepare their entry documents before reaching inspection booths to help speed up processing. Wait times at the Del Rio Port of Entry can be checked online at https://bwt.cbp.gov/index.html.
