Alison J. Ramsdell U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the District of South Dakota
A woman from Brandon, South Dakota, has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for possessing and distributing methamphetamine in the Sioux Falls area. The sentencing of Wendy Faye Stricherz, 49, was announced by U.S. Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell and handed down by U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange on August 4, 2025.
Stricherz will also serve three years of supervised release after her prison term and must pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
She was indicted by a federal grand jury in January 2024 for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and pleaded guilty on May 8, 2025.
According to investigators with the Sioux Falls Area Drug Task Force, Stricherz traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada, to obtain methamphetamine that she then distributed from her home and at a local bar in Sioux Falls. In October 2023, law enforcement executed a search warrant at her residence and found methamphetamine along with materials used for distribution both at her home and in a vehicle she was using. Authorities believe she trafficked more than four pounds of methamphetamine within the Sioux Falls region.
The investigation involved the Sioux Falls Area Drug Task Force, South Dakota Highway Patrol, Brandon Police Department, and FBI. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Hodges prosecuted the case.
“Stricherz was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.”
