Kansas City men receive prison sentences for armed carjacking in St. Louis County

Two Kansas City men have been sentenced for their roles in a 2022 carjacking that took place in St. Louis County.

On Monday, U.S. District Judge John A. Ross sentenced Reginald Hudson, now 29, to just over 10 years in prison. Last month, Judge Ross sentenced Ki’Juan Calhoun, 28, to 12 years behind bars. Both were ordered to pay $24,438 in restitution.

Hudson and Calhoun pleaded guilty in April to one count of carjacking and one count of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. According to court documents, the two men stole a 2019 Ford Fusion at gunpoint from a woman on January 12, 2022. The incident occurred at her apartment complex in St. Louis County when both men pointed handguns at her as they descended the stairs.

One of the men demanded her car keys, purse, and phone before fleeing with his accomplice in her vehicle.

“I completely understand the terror you had to be feeling that night,” Judge Ross told the victim during sentencing.

The stolen vehicle was located by the Kansas City Police Department the following day. During their investigation, officers found Hudson along with the victim’s purse and debit card inside a nearby home where two handguns were also recovered.

The case was investigated by the St. Louis County Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ashley Walker.
