U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has announced a reemployment program for former CBP officers and Air and Marine Operations (AMO) agents who retired between July 2020 and July 2024. The initiative allows these retirees to return to the agency as reemployed annuitants.

“CBP is dedicated to leveraging the expertise and experience of our retired personnel to strengthen our mission,” said CBP’s Human Resources Management Assistant Commissioner Andrea Bright. “The knowledge and skills of our retired officers and agents are invaluable, and this program provides a unique opportunity for them to continue serving and contributing to our nation’s security.”

The agency may grant a Dual Compensation Waiver, which permits rehired Federal Employee Retirement System (FERS) and Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) annuitants to work under temporary or term appointments without a reduction in salary while still receiving their full retirement annuity. These appointments can last up to four years, with possible extensions based on operational needs.

Reemployed annuitants will be assigned full-time schedules. Applications are currently being accepted for eligible positions.

Additional information about opportunities for Border Patrol annuitants is available on the Reemployed Annuitant page of the CBP Careers website. Those interested can visit the official careers site or follow @CBPJobs on X, Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn for updates.

CBP describes itself as America’s largest law enforcement organization with over 65,000 employees responsible for protecting U.S. borders by land, air, and sea. The agency facilitates lawful travel and trade while working to ensure national security through various initiatives.
