Dollar General recalls Clover Valley Instant Coffee over potential glass contamination

Dollar General Corporation has announced a voluntary recall of three lots of its eight-ounce Clover Valley Instant Coffee due to concerns about the possible presence of glass fragments. The affected products have the package UPC 876941004069 and lot numbers L-5163 (Best By 12/13/2026), L-5164 (Best by 12/13/2026), and L-5165 (Best by 12/14/2026). Customers can locate the lot and best by date information around the neck of each unit.

The instant coffee was sold exclusively at Dollar General retail stores between July 9 and July 21, 2025, in several states across the U.S., including Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, New York, Texas, Washington, and others.

According to Dollar General, “The recall is being initiated after a customer notified Dollar General employees about the potential issue. Ingesting glass fragments may cause injury to the consumer, and these injuries may include damage to teeth, laceration of the mouth and throat, or perforation of the intestine. No illnesses or injuries have been reported to date.”

Customers who purchased any of these products are advised to discard them. They can request a full refund by contacting Dollar General through email at customercare@dollargeneral.com or by phone at 1-888-309-9030 from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. CST daily.

Dollar General stated that it is investigating how glass contamination occurred in these products and apologized for any inconvenience this may have caused customers. The company noted that “The recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).”
