The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced the deportation of several Laotian nationals convicted of serious crimes in the United States. The individuals, all ordered removed by federal immigration judges—some as early as 2003—were returned to Laos following their convictions for offenses including obstruction of a murder investigation, child sexual abuse, drug trafficking, and other felonies.
According to DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, "Obstructing a murder investigation, child sex crimes, and drug trafficking: These were just a few of the crimes these heinous illegal aliens committed in our country. Now—thanks to the brave men and women of ICE law enforcement—these barbaric criminals are OUT of our county and can no longer prey on American citizens." She added, "Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, America is no longer a safe haven for the world’s criminals. Despite a historic number of injunctions from activist judges, ICE continues to remove criminal illegal aliens from America’s streets."
Among those deported was Sai Vang, identified as a gang member with the “Masters of Destruction,” who was convicted for aiding and obstructing an investigation into first-degree murder. Others included individuals convicted for various degrees of criminal sexual conduct involving minors, robbery in Ohio, bank fraud, home invasion, vehicle thefts, weapons charges, and multiple drug-related offenses such as manufacturing or delivering cocaine and ecstasy.
