A federal grand jury has indicted Calvin M. Eriksen, a 47-year-old surgeon from Brookfield, Wisconsin, on charges of distributing child pornography. The indictment was returned on August 12, 2025, according to Richard G. Frohling, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
If convicted, Eriksen faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison and up to 20 years’ imprisonment. He could also be fined as much as $250,000 and would be required to register as a sex offender under both state and federal law.
The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative started by the U.S. Department of Justice in May 2006 to address child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project brings together federal, state, and local resources to find and prosecute individuals who exploit children online and to help rescue victims. More information about this initiative can be found at www.projectsafechildhood.gov.
Homeland Security Investigations offices in Milwaukee and West Palm Beach worked with the City of Brookfield Police Department on the investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Megan J. Thomas will prosecute the case.
“An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. The defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the government must prove him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.”
