A federal grand jury has indicted Adam A. Juslen, a 41-year-old registered sex offender from Waushara County, Wisconsin, on charges of possessing child sexual abuse material. The indictment was announced by Richard G. Frohling, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
According to the indictment, Juslen allegedly possessed several sexually explicit images involving children under the age of eight. He has prior convictions for possession of child pornography in three separate state cases: Calumet County in 2010, Waushara County in 2014, and Outagamie County in 2015. If convicted on the new federal charge, Juslen faces a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years and up to twenty years in prison.
The investigation was conducted by the Waushara County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Wisconsin Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Alexander E. Duros will prosecute the case.
"This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006, by the U.S. Department of Justice. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. Authorities emphasized that an indictment is only a charge and does not constitute evidence of guilt; all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.
