Gorgon, Jr., who was joined by James Deir, Special Agent in Charge of the Detroit Field Office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF).

The investigation was carried out by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms alongside the Michigan State Police Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team. Assistant United States Attorney William Orr prosecuted the case.
